Mikosu
China
Mikosu - meaning foresight - attributed to the
protection from a sea deity (Mazu) that both Chinese
and Japanese merchant sailors prayed to before their
long ocean voyages.
The name and concept resonates with the overall
nautical concept of the hotel property, its location and
specialisation of sushi and seafood.
A contemporary and dramatic approach was used for
a fresh take on traditional Japanese aesthetics, materials
and details, with super-graphics of legendary sea
monsters amidst tsunamis - creating a contemporary
take on Japanese Edo era illustrations, and zen gardens
flanked by floor to ceiling one way mirror - creating
semi-transparent partitions between the private rooms
that create an infinity effect when viewed side-on and
an immersive, layered destination F&B experience.
